NEW Secular Class-Based Homeschool Co-op
A VIBRANT AND DIVERSE EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE
FOR HOMESCHOOL FAMILIES EAST OF THE TWIN CITIES
NEXT PLANNING MEETING:
Friday, March 6th 10:30-noon
Upstairs at the Stillwater Public Library
(We will discuss the exciting classes coming together and fundraising possibilities)
If you can’t make this next planning meeting, please fill out this brief survey about the fundraising options.
Here is an update on this new homeschool co-op in the works, to give you an idea of the potential structure for the co-op.
Our top venue choice at this time is Kiwanis Scout Camp just south of Marine on St. Croix (north of Stillwater):

We have pursued several other options closer to Stillwater, but nothing else seems to be a viable option for our space needs. Plus, the Kiwanis Camp has so much to offer as far as a very child friendly outdoor space as well as their lodge buildings, and they were willing to give us a very fair price for rental cost. ($150/wk)
At this time, we are planning for (4) 75-minute class slots on Wednesdays anywhere between 9am-4pm. We would begin September of 2020, with (2) 18-week semesters. We will take one week off for Thanksgiving and two weeks off in December for the holidays.
We are planning to charge between $170-$220 per class for each semester. (Additional supply fee may be added for certain classes.) We will also have a $125 annual membership fee per family to cover liability insurance, website fees, and some of the rental.
Once annual membership is paid, families can register for as few or as many classes as they’d like.
Gauging from the interest we’ve received so far, we plan to have one classroom for ages 5-10, and one classroom for ages 10 and up. Also a 3rd space that will either be a “family room” or childcare for younger siblings. Wifi is available at the Kiwanis venue.
These are the suggested classes we already have a potential teacher for:
Art
Creative writing
Nature
Photography
Yoga
Permaculture/Environmental ethics
Herbalism
Money management
Acting/theater
Automotive
These are some other suggested classes for which we are still looking for a teacher (if you know someone, please let us know!):
Spanish/Foreign language/ASL
Music
Public speaking/speech/debate
Science
History
Literature/Book Club
Jiu Jitsu/kung fu/self defense/Gym
Healthy life choices/Home economics
Ballroom dancing
Woodworking/Auto maintenance
Obviously, we will only need 8 of these classes total per semester (4 per age group), so we will likely have a vote on the class proposals for each age group in the coming weeks.
Based on this new information, can you please fill out this brief 3 question survey?

Any new updates (including any meetings and potentially a venue tour) will be posted on this page as we have them.
Again, thank you for being a part of this great community and we look forward to hearing from you!
