Building with Cob
& INTRO TO NATURAL BUILDING DESIGN
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10TH
10am-4pm
Join us for this HANDS-ON workshop building a cob mantle behind our wood-burning stove!
Cob is a natural building technique, using clay and sand right from the land, allowing us to sculpt beautiful curved shapes into our building creation.
Our day will include a (mostly outdoor) tour of our earth-bermed house, “timber in the round” chicken coop, and earthbag retaining wall, as well as an introduction to natural building design.
I’ll share some of the issues we encountered with current codes and zoning, as well as some of the solutions we found to navigate our situation.
Then we will dive right into some hands-on building with cob!
You will leave with:
- Inspiration!
- Clay under your fingernails
- An empowered connection with building
CLASS FEE: $50
COVID CONSIDERATIONS:
- CLASS SIZE IS VERY LIMITED
- WE WILL BE MOSTLY OUTDOORS
- PLEASE BRING A MASK FOR INDOOR TIME
- PLEASE PACK YOUR OWN LUNCH
